So when the people set out from their tents to pass over the Jordan with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people, and as soon as those bearing the ark had come as far as the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the brink of the water (now the Jordan overflows all its banks throughout the time of harvest), the waters coming down from above stood and rose up in a heap very far away, at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan, and those flowing down toward the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. And the people passed over opposite Jericho. – Joshua 3:14-16 ESV

This is what the Word of God says when it describes itself in Hebrews 4:12; For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart. (AMP) Our God is a DRAMA KING. He is all about Glory! More drama, more glory! When God has people cross water it is always at the FLOOD LEVELS. This water crossing INTO THE PROMISE land is tied to another water crossing that was OUT of CAPTIVITY. The Lord halted the Jordan at flood stage, opening a dry path for Israel just as He had divided the Red Sea for the generation of the exodus. The miracle confirmed that the living God went before His people and that Joshua led under the same divine authority given to Moses. We are called to REMEMBER; it is God alone who restrains the forces that appear impossible to overcome and make a way into the inheritance He has promised. To understand the word remember we need to think about Mr. Potato Head. Every time we took off his arms and legs, we dis-membered him. However, every time we put his arms and legs back on, we RE MEMBERED him. That is what the word means, to PUT BACK TOGETHER. That is the purpose of the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4-9), one of the most important prayers in Judaism, it is also the purpose of the book of Deuteronomy; to REMEMBER. Leaders Remember the right things! Leader, Joshua 3:16 records a literal, large-scale suspension of natural law in which the Jordan’s floodwaters stacked up at ADAM and drained toward the DEAD SEE, allowing Israel to cross opposite Jericho on dry ground. The event validates God’s promise to Joshua, renews Israel’s faith, intimidates their enemies, and foreshadows the ultimate passage God provides through Christ from bondage into inheritance. It also shows something many of us miss: The same God who got you out of CAPTIVITY, will get you into HIS PROMISED LAND! It is written, ‘being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus’. (Philippians 1:6) Only when we remember Who God is, what HE has said, and THE WAY HE has delivered us in the past…only then can we step into our JORDAN! Adam means Red Dirt, He is The First Man, the Fall. Romans 5:12 reminds us, “Through one man, Adam, sin entered.” That Jordan flowed from ADAM to the Dead Sea. The DEAD sea is where things go to die; Nothing flows out of the Dead Sea; it is the lowest place on earth. Jordan, YARAD, means, ‘the Descender’, to go down to descend. The Jordan is the only river in the world that flows from a high mountain, Mt. Hermon, down to the lowest place on earth, the Salt Sea, the sea of death, the Dead Sea. The perfect metaphor, shadow, picture of our condition. From birth, we are all born in Yarad — descending, falling, flowing toward death. No one swims up the Jordan. BUT GOD, until JESUS stepped into our personal JORDAN, and created a way into HIS PROMISES!
Conduit, Joshua 3 is an incredible chapter on Leadership and on Salvation, it points again to the REDEMPTIVE ARC that is all throughout the Bible. The Bible is not episodic, it is architectural. In other words, God never tells isolated stories. He builds structures, patterns, arches, and echoes across generations. Every event is a beam in a larger framework. Every miracle is a load‑bearing wall in a greater design. Every crossing, covenant, command, and confrontation is part of a single, unified architectural plan; God’s Redemptive Arc. The Jordan crossing is not just a moment; it is a mirror. It reflects the Red Sea. It anticipates Christ. It reveals salvation. It exposes the fall. It announces inheritance. It ties Adam, to the Jordan, to the Dead Sea, to Jesus\the Messiah, to the Promise; all in ONE DIVINE, continuous storyline. The Bible is not a scrapbook of spiritual memories, or parables and fables. The Word of God is a CATHEDRAL, A living engineered miracle unto itself. BY GOD, about GOD and to CONNECT with GOD- and it points to ONE central PILLAR: Jesus Christ the Cornerstone. It is written; So this is what the Lord GOD says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who believes will never be shaken. Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’? (Isaiah 28:16, Matthew 21:42) Still today, our Joshua, Jesus, stands in the middle of the waters of judgment. The waters of death come down on Him- BUT GOD- The Father holds them back at Adam because His Son is standing in the river. Here is the PATTERN WARRIOR: God spoke- you’re hearing Him. Now you move with wet feet. Then He does- and the people following you will cross because you did. Then you REMEMBER how God took you into the desert for 40 years, He wanted to test your heart, to see if you loved Him, if you would keep His commandments! Amen!
