But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” – Matthew 14:26-31 ESV

Nuts and seeds are called NUTRIENT DENSE; meaning there is a LOT of Nutrients compacted into that little NUT, that little SEED- there is enough to create and sustain life! The Bible is the BREAD OF LIFE, and it too can sustain and CREATE NEW LIFE! See Matthew 4:4. Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the WORD OF GOD is alive and active. Different translations use other words to clarify the intent of the writer- God: effective, quick and powerful, effectual, all-efficient, and my favorite- LIVING!
Leader, reading the Bible over and over, it allows for us to see, hear, and understand things in different ways, and depending on our life-circumstances, we can be reading a familiar passage and NEW THINGS are illuminated. Think about this story. They had just finished feeding about 15,000 men, women and children. Jesus then COMPELLED the disciples to get on the boat and get out of there! Jesus then disappeared to spend time in fellowship with His Father. The disciples have a Spiritual HIGH and then they feel Jesus is gone! Now they get hit with a terrible storm, 4 miles away from shore in the middle of the night, the 4th watch. The fourth watch is the morning watch, from three in the morning until daylight. Talk about UNDULATING LINE! HELP ME JESUS! My God, my God why have you forsaken me!
Conduit, the original Greek texts says, “Since it is you, NOT ‘IF’- command me to walk on the water! Peter, with the power of Jesus and the belief in who He was- lost in the moment- walked on water! Then He took His eyes off of Jesus and realized He was in a storm and the reality of life was given LORDSHIP and HE started to SINK! BUT, JESUS was IMMEDIATELY there! Jesus TOOK HOLD of HIM, Jesus got him in the boat, Jesus calmed the SEA and JESUS had Peter realize HE CAN BE MORE and HE CAN DO MORE when He focuses on Jesus and is willing to BELIEVE! Today, BE wiling to ask Jesus to get you out of YOUR BOAT and into the STORMY waters of walking with GOD- for that is where we get COMFORTED BY GOD! Will you be His witness?
