On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld. – John 20:19-23 ESV
Warrior;
Jesus is the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE for ALL BELIEVERS! He is our MODEL, our PICTURE, He is GOD’s EXAMPLE of HOW to LIVE and HOW to DIE and HOW to SERVE! John 14:12 quotes Jesus as saying, “ Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” Do you BELIEVE in Jesus? There is one ingredient needed to TRULY BELIEVE, which is TRUST. Commit yourself to the merciful God; rest your hope on the gracious gospel; trust your soul on the dying and living Savior!
Leader, Charles Spurgeon in his book, All of Grace, puts it this way: What is faith? It is made up of three things—knowledge, belief, and trust. Knowledge comes first. “How shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? I want to be informed of a fact before I can possibly believe it…” The mind goes on to believe that these things are true. The soul believes that God is, and that He hears the cries of sincere hearts; that the gospel is from God; that justification by faith is the grand truth which God hath revealed in these last days by His Spirit more clearly than before. Then the heart believes that Jesus is verily and in truth our God and Saviour, the Redeemer of men, the Prophet, Priest, and King of His people. All this is accepted as sure truth, not to be called in question.” Knowledge=Belief=Trust.
Conduit, Jesus was SUSTAINED by doing the will of HIS FATHER. Does that feed you, like it fed Christ? When Jesus’ earthly parents were looking for him when He was 12-years old, He was surprised that they were surprised, “How is it ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?” Jesus even says here, they will be able to FORGIVE SINS- just like He did-this is a huge statement! The scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?” (Luke 5:21) Those who were reclining at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this man who even forgives sins?”(Luke 7:49) “But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”–He said to the paralytic, (Mark 2:10) DO YOU TRUST in JESUS? Do you CLING TO, have NO OTHER HOPE…have you cast your LOT with our LORD? Then ACT AS IF and be about the Father’s Kingdom, the Father’s business, the Father’s name and the FATHER’S GLORY!
