The Bible is filled with PICTURES, with METAPHORS and HIDDEN MEANING. It truly is a WONDERFUL MYSTERY. The OLD TESTAMENT is the SHADOW of the SUBSTANCE of the NEW COVENANT who is CHRIST Jesus, our Messiah, our ROCK out LOG who makes our BITTER WATER SWEET! And he answered them, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. (Matthew 13:11-13) Are you on GODS journey out of CAPTIVITY and into HIS PROMISED land?
Leader, the ISRAELITES were chosen as God’s people and IF YOU ARE- YOU TOO have been chosen- not because of your VALUE but by GOD’s great LOVE, MERCY and GRACE. Not because of what you did but because of what HE DID- NOT because of who you are, but because of who HE IS! “For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the LORD set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples. (Deuteronomy 7:6-7) Are we saying, then, that God was unfair? Of course not! For God said to Moses, “I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose.” So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it. (Romans 9:14-16)
Conduit, God the Father was walking with the nearly 2 million Jews that had left Egypt- the most powerful country at the time- with SPOILS. They had witnessed 10 plagues that caused their captors to let them go! They then watched and WALKED as GOD made a PATH through the troubled WATERS of the RED SEA and walked on dry land and when the most powerful army on the planet came after them GOD closed the WATER WALK WAY and destroyed the entire EGYPTIAN ARMY! Three days later they were BITTER and complaining that GOD was NOT with them! They cried out and became bitter and asked, “Where is God?” Do you act similarly? Do you forget what God did for you yesterday as you struggle today? Moses showed them that the CURE for their doubt, their bitterness was the TREE OF LIFE! We must RE-MEMBER, REMIND and RE-COLLECT the blessings of God from our past, so we can STAY THE COURSE today! Faith requires a GAP! A gap between what we can see with our FLESH and what our GOD has told us! The greater that GAP, the greater our FAITH! If you are going to GET TO your PROMISED LAND in a way that Glorifies God, there is only ONE PATH: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths! Amen!
