Romans 15:4 tells us why we should read the Bible-the OLD and the NEW agreement, the OLD WILL and TESTAMENT and the NEW WILL and TESTAMENT; For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Nearly 3,500 years ago, the Lord delivered His people from Egyptian bondage as described in Exodus, chapters 1–12. They were to take possession of the land God had promised their forefathers, a land “flowing with milk and honey”. Prior to entry, however, they became convinced they could not oust the current inhabitants of the land, even though God told them they could. Their lack of belief in God’s word and promises brought forth the wrath of God. He cursed them with forty years of wilderness wandering until the unbelieving generation died off, never stepping foot in the Promised Land.
Leader, Then the Lord said to Moses, “How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the miraculous signs I have performed among them? I will strike them down with a plague and destroy them” (Numbers 14:11) God had great plans for HIS CHILDREN. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11) Our God is LONG-SUFFERING, but even our God has HIS LIMITS! The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) Do you believe that GOD IS GOOD, do you have FAITH that HE wants good for you?
Conduit, THE TIME IS NOW! Time to trust in the LORD, time to have FAITH. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) Faith requires a gap. There is a gap between what God tells us and what our flesh tells us. We rely on what our fleshly eyes, ears and feelings tell us, instead of what our LORD TELLS US! Faith is a BELIEF SYSTEM. Hebrews 11 tells us, “faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen”. IT IS B.S.; Believing is more than an intellectual acknowledgement that the Bible is true. Believing is also more than having confidence that the Scriptures are divinely inspired. To truly believe means to have faith that God is alive, is active, and is keenly interested in me today. Are you WILLING TO BELIEVE? To cling to- have no other hope?! Today, be like CALEB and have a different SPIRIT, have a SPIRIT of FAITH in the LIVING GOD: Yahweh, Adonai, El Shaddai, Jehovah- and HIS SON, our MESSIAH, JESUS! Amen!
