But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality. So also you have some who hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Therefore repent. If not, I will come to you soon and war against them with the sword of my mouth. – Revelation 2:14-16 ESV

In these LAST DAYS it is important to know what God says in the book of REVELATION about these LAST DAYS! David Jeremiah is doing a great series on the book of Revelation and he goes into depth on the city of Pergamos. Pergamum was the most evil and vile of the 7 cities\churches that the 7 letters were sent to. Jesus called it Satan’s throne- where Satan dwelleth. One of the Ancient wonders of the world was the “altar to Zeus”- it was in Pergamos. Outside the Acropolis was built this altar\throne and many evil sacrifices were offered! They were also involved with the WORSHIP of Asclepius. Asclepius was their God who healed, the temple was like a hospital! He was their savior! They also had the largest library outside of Alexandria; 200,000 volumes. They were full of Knowledge, full of answers, full of themselves and worshiping the WORLD’S gods!
Leader, in his book, ‘The Two Babylons, Alexander Hyslop notes; Babylon was considered the head of Satan’s government, going all the way back to NIMROD! When Babylon fell, Hyslop says the center of Satanic Operation moved from Babylon to Pergamos. For many years Pergamos was considered the Capitol of Satan’s Kingdom on this earth. The Nicolaitans were a heretical sect, a licentious sect, they lead lives of unrestrained indulgence, they believed one must make the whole round of sensuality- in order to become its perfect master. This should all sound like the world we live in today! The city of Pergamos sounds no different then our Major, liberal, democratic cities; Las Vegas, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, NYC, Boston and most others.
Conduit, God said to this church; I KNOW the circumstances of where you live and the struggles you are living in, the battles you face. I know the conviction of your Faith. I know the COURAGE of your faith. HE also knew their COMPROMISE of their FAITH! The sin of Balaam is COMPROMISE. Balaam couldn’t curse the people of God, so he taught Balaak to get them to compromise. He got them to have sex with NON-believers and to EAT what the world ate and TO BELIEVE what the WORLD BELIEVED- sound familiar? The purpose of giving the Jews dietary, and other restrictions was to make it HARD for them to assimilate and become like the WORLD! The Doctrine of Balaam is if you cannot CURSE them, CORRUPT them! GOD IS OMNISCIENT, HE KNOWS IT ALL! God knows and understand where we dwell and what weapons are formed against us! “You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God”. (James 4:4) The end is NEAR, be different then the WORLD. For God KNOWS the plans he has for you! Plans to prosper you and NOT to harm you! Plans for a HOPE and a FUTURE. You are NOT-OF THIS WORLD, but IN IT for a short time more! Be different!
