Pastor Philip De Coursy calls this psalm, TRAVEL INSURANCE. There are many companies in the world that promote travel insurance. Whether you are talking about AAA, Good Sam, Pep boys- Manny, Moe and Jack; they all want you to know they got you covered on the road of life. These are all services that you can purchase, that when you break down on the road of life they will come and get you back on the road in a convenient, timely manner. However we all have a God who promises to do this in all aspects of our life, no matter what the situation, no matter what the circumstance we have a God who is there 24/7. It not only covers you, but all your family and all the world, especially for those who choose to call on the name of Jesus.
Leader, it is one thing to have a ROAD-SIDE service that comes when you break down. But we have a God who is always there and who always knows WHERE WE ARE! O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.(Psalm 139:1-2, 7-10) Romans 10:13 says, All who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. You don’t need to dial an 800 number, you don’t even need cell phone service, you just need to CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD, and He is there- He is everywhere! God is Omni-present; At all places, at all times, in all situations for those who call on the name of JESUS! Acts 4:12 makes it clear; there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Conduit, calling on the name of the Lord is basic for salvation and for this journey called LIFE. God promises to save those who, in faith, call upon His name. Everyone who invokes the name of God for mercy and salvation, by or in the name of Jesus, shall be saved (Acts 2:21). To call on the name of the Lord is to invoke His proper name “in audible and social prayer and praise” (Albert Barnes). To call on the name of the Lord is to approach Him in thanksgiving, worship, and petition, and in so doing proclaim the name of God. As we continue to journey into the unknown- if you are a follower of Jesus the Christ, you are in God’s hands, the creator of the universe! He will guide you through every tough situation and direct you on the right path. When we’re going through trials, we might not understand the moving hand of God, but later you will understand why. You have TRAVEL INSURANCE–TRUST in HIS MIGHT and know GOD HAS YOU COVERED!
