Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its collapse!” – Matthew 7:24-27 BSB
Warrior;
The Sermon on the Mount is the GREATEST SERMON ever preached. It was preached by the greatest RABBI, the greatest PASTOR, The CHIEF PRIEST, the GREAT SHEPHERD- Jesus the Messiah! The Sermon on the Mount was conceived, written, spoken, and CODIFIED in the Bible, by GOD HIMSELF. Jesus is Emmanuel- GOD WITH US! 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God— children born not of blood, nor of the desire or will of man, but born of God. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. (John 1:1-4,11-14a) Consider this, God came down from on high, and dwelt among us and waited 30 plus years to tell us what His purpose was for us; His WAY, HIS truth, HIS LIFE. This important sermon ends with these WORDS about being doers of the world, not just listeners of THE WORD.
Leader, those that lived with Jesus in the flesh, those that grew up with Jesus, those who chastised Jesus- IN THE FLESH, after seeing Him in His resurrected form, changed their HEART toward HIM and their MIND about Him. His half-brother James, who became the first leader of the church in Jerusalem put it this way; Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. (James 1:21-27) As a speaker, the conclusion of a message can be the most important part of the message and the hardest part. The Speaker must consider what, “What do I want them to REMEMBER, what do I want to LEAVE THEM WITH”? Lawyers know that no matter how well they argue their cases, the jury will take his\her closing arguments into the deliberation room to help bring them the verdict they desire. Salespeople are well aware that no matter how good their sales presentations are, if they do not know how to CLOSE the DEAL- all their efforts are FOR NOT!
Conduit, selling is nothing more than GAINING AGREEMENT from someone else to buy your product, your service, your hand in marriage, your belief in God- whatever you are selling! The Sermon on the Mount was the greatest sermon ever preached, and God Himself preached it! The whole scriptural text is found in Matthew chapters 5 to 7. There are six sections in this MANNA from Heaven: 1; Beatitudes – What it means to be truly blessed. 2; A Higher Law – How to have righteousness exceeding those of the scribes and Pharisees. 3; The Lord’s Prayer – Instructions on prayer and right motives for fasting and giving. 4; Money and Worry – Attitudes towards money and also reasons to avoid worry. 5; Warnings – Dangers of false teachers, false prophets, and hypocrisy. 6; Conclusion – The parable of the wise and foolish builders. Jesus on at least three occasions in the gospels, and seven times in Revelation, spoke the phrase, “ears to hear…” He was merely quoting the OLD TESTAMENT. “You have neither heard nor understood; from of old your ears have not been open. Well do I know how treacherous you are; you were called a rebel from birth.” (Isaiah 48:8) “Hear this, you foolish and senseless people, who have eyes but do not see, who have ears but do not hear.” (Jeremiah 5:21) “To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The word of the Lord is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.” (Jeremiah 6:10) “Son of man, you are living among a rebellious people. They have eyes to see but do not see and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious people.” (Ezekiel 12:2). Jesus Himself preached this sermon not just so people can hear it, but that it would be recorded for all of humanity, for ALL OF TIME. Jesus preached not just desiring people to hear Him, He also desired them to do something with what they had heard. Thus He concluded with a strategic parable so that if they genuinely believed what He had said, they would DESIRE to do something about it. The conclusion called for a change of heart and a decision to journey towards His kingdom and righteousness. TODAY, will you HEED HIS WARNING and HIS ADVICE? Jesus is asking, and Jesus is telling- will you have EARS TO HEAR? “So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say? “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” (Luke 6:46, John 14:15) Do you LOVE HIM? Today, ACT AS IF, and DO HIS WORD!
