And Moses said, “Hereby you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these works, and that it has not been of my own accord. If these men die as all men die, or if they are visited by the fate of all mankind, then the LORD has not sent me. But if the LORD creates something new, and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into Sheol, then you shall know that these men have despised the LORD.” – Numbers 16: 28-30 ESV

Warrior;
The Rebellion of Korah is a powerful story of the Old Testament. It is about Pride, it is about jealousy and it is about humbly following those who are being guided by God. God gives us guides, so that we can walk on the narrow path. Billy Graham put it this way: There are two roads of life, the world’s path and God’s path. Imagine a very wide road with people all walking in the same direction. In the center of that road is a narrow path that goes in the opposite direction—it can be a lonely road—but it’s the right road. Jesus plainly pointed out these two roads. One is broad, lacking faith, convictions, morals and obedience to God. It’s the easy, popular, careless way. It is heavily traveled, but it leads to destruction. The other road is narrow and unpopular. This is why Jesus said, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:13-14).

Leader, Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world, and Christianity seems to be losing members, at least in America. In studying the Quran, there are many similarities in the “Holy” books of these 2 great religions. It has been said that 70% of the Quran came from the Bible. The Quran was written about 550 years after the Bible and affirms the Bible as the word of God, with the exception of the Tahrif. By contrast, the Bible refutes the Quran in its entirety with a stern warning in its final paragraph that nothing is to be added to or deleted from the Bible- see Revelation 22:18-19. Tahrif, which means “corruption,” is the charge that the Bible contains corrupted passages. Tahrif was first leveled against the Bible in the 11th century by a Muslim named Ibn Khazem. According to Ibn Khazem’s tahrif, when passages in the Quran contradict passages in the Bible, it is the Bible passages that have been corrupted, apparently by the Jews and the Christians. The Quran has 93 ayats, verses, about Isa (Jesus). In the Muslim holy book, Jesus, is spoken of in a light similar to Mohammed, they just don’t believe He was crucified and resurrected. The virgin birth, John the Baptist, Noah and the flood, and many other key Christian tenets are in the Quran, including the rebellion of Korah. This shows us the importance of what should be learned from the Rebellion of Korah.

Conduit, we need to learn the lessons of the REBELLION OF KORAH. Korah was rich, proud and wanting of power and leadership. In the Quran it speaks of Korah as believing that Korah was his own source of knowledge, riches and position. In the Bible Korah represents the same thing; Pride, self-adulation, rebellion against God’s will and quest for Power and disrespect for those who are GOD’s GUIDES. Moses was walking with God and God had the Israelites on a NARROW PATH. He was teaching them to trust HIM, to WALK with HIM and to DEPEND on HIM. The whole purpose of Manna was to teach them to seek God daily and to learn how to follow GOD’S instructions. For as Jesus said, Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4). This is the truth of the word of God. We need much more than the physical bread for our survival on planet earth. Man is made up of three entities, which are spirit, soul, and body, see I Thess. 5:23. With Covid 19, with the lockdown and with all the pressure of a world getting darker and darker, we need to remember WHO IS ON THE THRONE! God is guiding those who choose to seek HIS WILL, HIS WORD and HIS WAY. It is NOT an easy path, but it is a path that leads to LIFE EVERLASTING. “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:6-7) Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
