What a beautiful, stirring invitation! It reminds me of another invitation that we find in the New COVENANT, the new agreement, the BETTER WILL and TESTAMENT of God- Luke 14:16-24: Jesus replied: ”A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’ “Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’ “Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’
Leader, it has been said that Excuses are like armpits. Everybody has them, and most of them don’t fit the smell test! What we DESIRE we make time for. We have a JOB, so we can have money, so we can provide for our NEEDS and our WANTS. If you have a JOB where you receive enumeration, then you, most likely, spend a majority of your waking hours there. We mortgage our LIVES through the INVESTMENT OF OUR TIME! Where do you spend your TIME? Is it in the WORD of GOD? When we spend time in GODS WORD then we know GODS PROMISES and we understand ESCHATOLOGY: the part of theology concerned with death, judgment, and the final destiny of the soul and of humankind. You then become a powerful TOOL for the HOLY SPIRIT to use, in administering the WILL OF GOD!
Conduit, in surveys when asked why people don’t share their FAITH it really comes down to 2 things: 1-they are NOT living their FAITH. 2- Because they DON’T KNOW THEIR BIBLE! People feel they have to get a degree, or leave it to the PASTOR and the CHURCH LEADERS to do the PREACHING! The Holy Spirit is the only true SOUL WINNER, it is the HOLY SPIRIT who ILLUMINATES SCRIPTURE, it is the HOLY SPIRIT that prepares the HEART and CALLS us to GOD! Our job is to open our mouths and SHARE THE WORD and the LOVE of GOD! WE are called to be ‘JOHNNY APPLESEED’ with the WORD OF GOD! Spread HIS SEED and let HIS WORD take ROOT in OUR HEARTS so it will come OUT OF OUR MOUTH when it opens! For it is written: from the overflow of the HEART, the MOUTH speaks. Even PAUL knew it was the WORD of GOD, not the WORD OF PAUL that SAVES People. In 1 Cor 1 and 2, he says: I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan. HE preached the Good News–and not with clever speech, for fear that the cross of Christ would lose its power. In the same 55th chapter of Isaiah, 10-11, the prophet is given the science of HYDROLOGICAL CYCLE and lays it besides the WORD of GOD to make this point: “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; It shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” Spend time IN THE WORD, knowing HIS WORD. Then SHARE HIS WORD and invite them to the KINGS WEDDING FEAST of Matthew 22:1-14. Invest your greatest asset of TIME in the GREATEST BOOK written by our GREAT KING!
