After the death of Moses, the LORD’s servant, the LORD spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant. He said, “Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people, the Israelites, across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them. I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you— Joshua 1:1-3 NLT

Warrior;
If you are God’s chosen- we can be stubborn! “You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you. (Acts 7:51). In Joshua’s time, much of the land of Canaan was brought under Israelite control. In the time of David and his son Solomon (approximately 1000 BC, or 400 years after Joshua), a wide area of land was under Israel’s control or influence. Yet the entire territory promised to Israel in Scripture, both in Joshua and elsewhere, has yet to be fulfilled. The question we must ask ourselves today is what blessings are we leaving on the table? Where are we NOT fulfilling God’s BEST BLESSINGS for ourselves because of OUR DOUBT, our lack of FAITH and FUNCTION?

Leader, It was God’s purpose that the whole land should belong to the children of Israel. The conquest was intended to be complete. Not a foot’s breadth was to rest in the hands of its former owners. But here, as with other places in the Bible, we may mark the way in which man’s sin and LACK of FAITH has marred the purposes of God. In the Book of Judges, we read that the Canaanites were not only NOT driven out, but that the children of Israel made marriages with them, worshiped their gods, and practiced their abominations. Jerusalem remained in the hands of the Jebusites until the time of David, while the Philistines remained in possession of their portion of Palestine until it was reduced under the power of the king of Babylon.

Conduit, the promise to Joshua was like the promise to Abraham, to Moses and to each of us who worship and FOLLOW our LORD JESUS CHRIST! And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you. (Galatians 3:29). God made the same promise 40 years earlier to Moses, that He made to Joshua, see Deuteronomy 11:22-25. He made the same promise some 450 years earlier to Abraham, see Genesis 15. It is our FEAR, our lack of FAITH that keeps us from having and being all that God promises us; “We can’t attack those people,” the men who were with him said, “because they’re too strong compared to us.” So they put out this false report to the Israelis about the land that they had explored: “The land that we’ve explored is one that devours its inhabitants. All the people whom we observed were giants. We also saw the Nephilim, the descendants of Anak. Compared to the Nephilim, as we see things, we’re like grasshoppers, and that’s their opinion of us!” (Numbers 11:31-33) Today, let GOD’s word take precedence over the WORLD’s opinion of you! Today let us FOCUS on God’s promises, and NOT the world’s opinions! My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!
