How about you? Are you like Jesus, do you WEEP when you WALK in this world? John 11:35 is the shortest verse in the English bible; JESUS WEPT! Luke 19:41- But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, he began to weep. In Isaiah 53:3 Jesus is described NOT as a care free Savior, but as a MAN who HURT: He was despised and rejected— a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. Is this your experience on this planet, or do you fit in pretty well? Are you more like JESUS or PHARISEE?
Leader, the question is, “Why did Jesus weep?” He was getting ready to raise Lazarus to His glory. The WORD says he was DEEPLY moved in HIS SPIRIT AND GREATLY TROUBLED! Jesus wept because He feels our pain- He HURT because Mary and Martha hurt- so HE WEPT. And HE WEPT, because they STILL DIDN’T BELIEVE! They said they did, but they DID NOT BELIEVE that Jesus was the SON OF GOD and the PURPOSE FOR CREATION! And how about Mary’s anger toward Jesus? It was Mary who took a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume and poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. (John 12:3) She goes from that public display of love for JESUS to an unwillingness to come out of her home and greet him! Like Mary, have you forgotten your first love?
Conduit, Greg Laurie says that, “Hope grows strongest in the GARDEN OF PAIN. Hope grows when things are hard, because that is when God comes through and shows you His Power and His glory. HOPE is an acronym: Holding Onto Patient Expectation.” We are to have HOPE that GOD’s promises are true! HOPE that IN HIM, there is nothing we can’t do. HOPE- that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. HOPE- that the same power that rose Jesus from the grave LIVES IN US! KEEP HOPE ALIVE: that one day soon… For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done. (Matt 16:27) Amen!
