“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. 2But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. – John 10:1-3 ESV
There is so much here in John 10. The biggest problem with the Bible is the fact that few read it regularly, and fewer yet, STUDY it and seek to understand its meaning and implications in the lives and the world. In this Chapter we get one of the most mis-interpreted verses in the Bible. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10) The “Thief” is thought to believe is the “Devil”, and he is the SPIRIT behind the thief, but the thief is actually anyone who attempts to get to God the Father, Abba, without going through Jesus. There are many today who are believing that they are getting close to God by other means, than Jesus. Yet, Jesus Himself claimed that there was only one way to ABBA, Father God and that is through Him! Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!” (John 14:6-7) Jesus says, if you had REALLY known me, you would have known who MY FATHER is! The thief is the “Attempter” to fool, to use wiles, methods and mans ‘search for knowledge” to achieve reconciliation with the Father-outside of the Conduit of Jesus. The THIEF is the one who attempts to make you believe there are other ways to God, than through Jesus. Treasure is defined as something valuable, wealth or riches stored or accumulated, especially in the form of precious metals, money… jewels.
Leader, when someone is made to believe that they are RECONCILED with God, in any fashion other than a close, intimate, humbling, repentant, volitional relationship with God the Son, Jesus the Christ- they are being ROBBED! They have been counterfeited! They might “Be at peace” with it, they might think they are RIGHTEOUS before God, they might feel as though they are close to God and even in the presence of God, but they are mistaken. It is like ‘FOOLS GOLD’, one might think they have great value in their hands, but it is nothing but mere rock and it shall become ash again! We are told to beware of the wiles of the devil, the ways that we are deceived to believe the lies of the devil. One of the greatest wiles of the devil, outside of wanting people to believe in his NON-EXISTENCE, is the deception of getting to God the Father without Going through God the Son. You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44) When the devil gets someone to believe that they can be a child of God, reconciled to Jehovah, Yahweh, the Almighty God- without bowing at the feet of Jesus, they have been lied to and thus, robbed! They have been robbed of eternal salvation, peace with God, the peace of God and the Peace that surpasses all understanding. They have been ROBBED…thief! Treasure has another definition which means to hold or keep as precious; cherished, prized. That is what we are to God! We were valuable gifts given to Jesus by the Father. “I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. All who are mine belong to you, and you have given them to me, so they bring me glory. (John 17:6,10)
Conduit, in the 12th chapter of Luke, under the heading of TREASURES IN HEAVEN, it says: Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide yourselves with purses that will not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Luke 12:32-34) Again, notice how God equates our rewards in heaven for TREASURE, for where our treasure is , there our heart will also be. Jesus makes it clear that in the realm of God, the devil cannot take, nor can the thief- from the hands of God! My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else.d No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.” (John 10:27-30) 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39) Do you TREASURE your relationship with God? Do you TREASURE those that you get to feed daily with the WORD of GOD? Remember three times, Jesus told Peter; Feed my sheep! We must remember that Man does NOT live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God! Today it is time to TREASURE our relationship with God. Today, let us TREASURE His Word, His work He is doing in us and through us- let us TREASURE our moment in time to be the HANDS, FEET and HEART of Jesus to a BROKE and BROKEN world! God finds that you are a great TREASURE TO HIM- ACT, in that GREAT VALUE!
