Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ Anyone who loves his father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me; and anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. – Matthew 10:34-39 BSB
Yes, that is IN THE BIBLE! Yes, those were Jesus’ words. It goes against the soft, fluffy, ‘Jesus’ is ok with whatever you want to do’ philosophy that has overrun the church and may believers. I am not suggesting that we are to purposely divide people and I am not saying-nor is GOD- that you should look to divide and separate, however, we need to know the FULL GOSPEL. Remember we are called to AGAPE people. Agape love is Godly love, unconditional love, love for not only our friends but our enemies. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:43-48)
Leader, we can not do AGAPE love, only the HOLY SPIRIT, indwelling us, can LOVE like Jesus loved! As Paul said, “it is not I who lives, but Christ who lives in me”. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) We must know all of scripture and we must preach the FULL GOSPEL and there is much about not ‘hanging out’, not being in union with those who hate the word of God and who wish harm on those who follow Jesus. Here is what the Amplified Bible says, do not be unequally bound together with unbelievers [do not make mismatched alliances with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership can righteousness have with lawlessness? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? (2 Cor 6:14) The Apostle Luke recalled even harsher words from our Lord, and he recalled that Jesus said, “Not Peace, but Division”; “I came to cast fire on the earth, and would that it were already kindled! I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how great is my distress until it is accomplished! Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. For from now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.” (Luke 12:49-53)
Conduit, right after Jesus said that in Luke’s Gospel, he spoke these words. “When you see a cloud rising in the west, you say at once, ‘A shower is coming.’ And so it happens. And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat,’ and it happens. You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time? (Luke 12:49-53) We are in some dark times, what many believe is the time of the Terminal church. It is a time when we have to decide, because following Jesus is less acceptable and more offensive to the World, like it was in ‘Biblical’ days. I’m overwhelmed with sorrow! Sunk in a swamp of despair! I’m like someone who goes to the garden to pick cabbages and carrots and corn and returns empty-handed, finds nothing for soup or sandwich or salad. There’s not a decent person in sight. Right-living humans are extinct. They’re all out for one another’s blood, animals preying on each other. They’ve all become experts in evil. Corrupt leaders demand bribes. The powerful rich make sure they get what they want. The best and brightest are thistles. The top of the line is crabgrass. But no longer: It’s exam time. Look at them slinking away in disgrace! Don’t trust your neighbor, don’t confide in your friend. Watch your words, even with your spouse. Neighborhoods and families are falling to pieces. The closer they are – sons, daughters, in-laws – The worse they can be. Your own family is the enemy. But me, I’m not giving up. I’m sticking around to see what God will do. I’m waiting for God to make things right. I’m counting on God to listen to me. (Micah 7:1-7 MSG paraphrase) Only God has OMNISCIENCE, perfect knowledge. Every single human being is ‘off’ a bit on their theology. Nobody can live the CHRISTIAN LIFE, it is impossible- only Christ living through us, can live the Christian Life! If we want to honor God and finish this race well, we must come to the same conclusion as the Apostle Paul in his letter to the church in Philippi: For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. But if I live, I can do more fruitful work for Christ. So I really don’t know which is better. I’m torn between two desires: I long to go and be with Christ, which would be far better for me. But for your sakes, it is better that I continue to live. (Philippians 1:21-24) We are all sinners, who fall short of the glory of God, we need grace and mercy to enter the Kingdom of God. Jesus told us if we break a single commandment, we have broken the whole law- He requires perfection, which we will fall short of! That is why we CLOTHE ourselves with Christ- see Romans 13:14. This is why we are to seek the NARROW PATH, the HARD PATH, the one that VERY FEW FIND. It is not easy! If you are looking for easy then walk away from the cross of Christ and go to Staples office supply store and get an EASY button. Let Go and let God. Get as close to Jesus and BE IN HIS WORD, be in constant fellowship with Him in prayer and put yourself around a few good Christians who study the WHOLE GOSPEL and then ask God to do in you, what your flesh wars against your Spirit to do- love those that hate you! With God all things are possible- Love is a verb, not a feeling! Pray for those who persecute you and those who mock your beliefs and values- and be safe and STAY CONTINUALLY scripturally centered and connected.
