And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard. What more was there to do for my vineyard, that I have not done in it? When I looked for it to yield grapes, why did it yield wild grapes? And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. I will remove its hedge, and it shall be devoured; I will break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down. I will make it a waste; it shall not be pruned or hoed, and briers and thorns shall grow up; I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it. – Isaiah 5:3-6 ESV
Isaiah 5 is directed toward the vineyard of the Lord, Israel, His children. However, it is clear to know that God is good- All the time; All the time He is good, He is consistent, He is Long-suffering, He is mercy and GRACE, AND HE IS JUST! We have so many Americans who want Justice, the base word of JUSTICE is JUST. Let’s be real here, what people want is NOT JUSTICE, they want what they believe is FAIR to them, or to someone else- based on their personal opinion of what is RIGHT and what is WRONG. The problem with that, is that WE ARE NOT GOD. Yet, we continue to attempt to make God in our image and to form God after our beliefs and our sense of RIGHT AND WRONG. However, there is no BOOK OF OPINIONS in the Bible. What I FEEL and what you FEEL do not matter- what matters is what God feels, what God believes and what GOD KNOWS TO BE JUST. The scriptures are replete with understanding that what we think is right and just, and what God thinks are right and just are multiple dimensions apart. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts. Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. (Isaiah 55:8-9, Romans 11:33-34, 1 Corinthians 2:16)
Leader, the one way we can know the mind of God, is to search His Word, to listen to His commands and to see how He has dealt with others in the past, to understand what He will do in the now, and in the future. Let’s look at 2 words to see what the heart and mind of God are saying. The 2 words are JUST and WOE. From gotquestions.com; “When we say that God is just, we mean that He is perfectly righteous in His treatment of His creatures. God shows no partiality (Acts 10:34), He commands against the mistreatment of others (Zechariah 7:10), and He perfectly executes vengeance against the oppressors (2 Thessalonians 1:6; Romans 12:19). God is just in meting out rewards: “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them” (Hebrews 6:10). He is equally just in meting out punishments: “Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism” (Colossians 3:25). Justice and righteousness, which always work hand in hand, are the foundation of God’s throne (Psalm 89:14)”. From Patheos.com; The word “woe” in the Greek is “ouai” and is more than just an expression of a feeling. Woe is a judgment as we read in the Book of Revelation (chapters 8. 9, 11, and 12). It means “alas” or almost like “oh no!” When the word woe is used, it is quite possibly signifying impending doom, condemnation and/or the wrath of God so it is never used to only emphasize something in the sentence in which it is used. The context is always king when this word is used. The Hebrew word for woe is “howy” and essentially means the very same thing as it does when used in the New Testament. Jesus used the word woe more than anyone else in the Bible. The Gospel of Luke has twice as many woes (13) than the nearest book in Old Testament (Ezekiel has 6) and only Matthew has nearly as many (12). When God’s judgment upon sinful mankind is being revealed, the Apostle John writes “Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, at the blasts of the other trumpets that the three angels are about to blow” (Rev 8:13).
Conduit, the word “woe” is often used to express grief, regret, misfortune, or grievous distress stated from such a great affliction of some sort or being in such trouble that an escape out of it seems impossible. Judgement is coming to America and to the world. Why did the election turn out the way it did? Why did a party and a man whose beliefs violate ALL 10 of the COMMANDMENTS of the LAW- get voted into full power in America? The answer is clear, and it is spoken about here in the 5th chapter of Isaiah- JUDGEMENT from a JUST GOD! For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? (1 Peter 4:17) in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. (2 Thessalonians 1:8) The Time of the Gentiles is coming to a close and then the Time of Jacob’s Trouble will begin- the time of Judgement is coming. Remember Jesus told us the answer; know His Word, follow His Word! Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight! Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine, and valiant men in mixing strong drink, who acquit the guilty for a bribe, and deprive the innocent of his right! (Isaiah 5:20-23) That sure sounds like America today, the NEW AMERICA and WOE TO US! Jesus told us how to fix this KNOW HIS WORD, FOLLOW HIS WORD, and acknowledge HIM AS LORD! “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? If you love me, you will keep my commandments. So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, 33but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” (Luke 6:46, John 14:15, Matthew 10:32-33) Let me remind you today what JESUS said HIMSELF about why He was incarnate and what is happening in America. “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. (Matthew 10:34-39) Today, I pray you find JESUS, follow JESUS, and LOSE YOUR LIFE FOR HIS SAKE! We will ALL experience WOE! Will your woe be from the world, or will your WOE BE FROM THE LORD?
