fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.- Isaiah 41:10 ESV
If you search the Word of God for the most frequent command, you might be surprised. It is not to go to church, to not commit adultery, nor is it to abstain from any type of sin. These are all important things, but they are NOT the most frequent command. The most frequent command is DO NOT FEAR. It is said almost 365 times. Interesting God feels it is so important that we are told this, basically daily. “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7) Fear negates faith, by growing in our faith, fear must dissipate. When we understand God is omniscient; all-knowing and He is immutable; He never changes. That equation tells us God is a cosmic ‘know-it-all’, He cannot learn, He cannot be surprised! In other words- There has never been an emergency meeting of the trinity. What do we have to FEAR if GOD is aware of where we are and what is going on? God is on His throne and in control- FEAR NOT!
Leader, just like darkness and light are opposite spectrums, one negates the other. Why does darkness hate the light? Because when Light shows up, darkness must go away. Fear and Faith have a similar connection. it has been said, “Fear is the opposite of faith. It’s the other side of the same coin. Fear is, almost by definition, the lack of faith. It is a denial of the hope that God will take care of us no matter what trials we come up against—especially those that draw out our deepest struggles, and terrors. FEAR is an acronym; False Evidence Appearing Real. It’s a state of being in which we lack belief.
Conduit, this NEW YEAR, God has given His children HIS WORD; FEAR NOT, for I AM YOUR GOD. When the three young Hebrews were told to bow to a foreign God it was Faith NOT FEAR that put them outside the fiery furnace. The Berean Study Bible states it this way: If the God whom we serve exists, then He is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace and from your hand, O king. But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden statue you have set up.” (Daniel 3:17-18) As a follower of Christ we must remember we are in God’s hands, the creator of the universe! Nothing happens without His permissive will. He will guide you through every tough situation and direct you on the right path. When we’re going through trials, we might not understand the moving hand of God, but let go and let God. God is at work in ALL THINGS. Allow Him to lead you. Follow the Holy Spirit. Don’t turn away from God’s will. Humble yourself before the Lord and FEAR NOT! Trust that God will lead you out of the fire, and allow Him to guide you- just BELIEVE that He is GOD and HE has this!
