In his book, “Knowledge of the Holy”, A.W. Tozer identifies 18 attributes of God. He says, “God, being infinite, must possess attributes about which we can know. An attribute, as we can know it, is a mental concept, an intellectual response to God’s self-revelation. It is an answer to a question; the reply God makes to our interrogation concerning himself. What is God like? What kind of God is He? How may we expect Him to act toward us and toward all created things? Such questions are not merely academic. They touch the far-in reaches of the human spirit, and their answers affect life and character and destiny”.
Leader, by understanding the QUALITIES or ATTRIBUTES of GOD we can better know HIM and make HIM KNOWN and TRUSTED IN! Tozer says God is NOT more of one attribute than the other, and HE can NOT cease to be one attribute, or He would cease to be GOD! Two of those attributes are IMMUTABLE and OMNISCIENT. Got is ALL KNOWING and GOD cannot change! Unlike our politicians- God does NOT EVOLVE! He is just as much against homosexuality, fornication, PRIDE and GREED today as He was when He had the Bible written! God CANNOT LEARN, or He would cease being GOD, HE is ‘THE’ ONE- KNOW IT ALL!
Conduit, when you put it all together- ALL WORRY is removed! How far back did God prepare in ADVANCE for this moment in time? He had to have someone drop a shekel into the water, where a specific fish swallowed it, and that specific fish would be in the exact location where Peter was going to be standing, when HE was going to be fishing for a shekel to pay the taxes that WOULD BE demanded of Him by the collectors of the two-drachma tax? There has NEVER been an emergency meeting of the TRINITY. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Eph 2:10) Trust in the ALL knowing, all CONTROLLING God who sits above TIME!
