Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. – 1 John 2:15-17 ESV

Warrior;

This seems like such a contradictory verse. We are called to LOVE the sinner but hate the sin. We are told in John 3:16; For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. That whoever believes in Him, shall NOT die, but have eternal life. We need to go back to the original language to understand that when the ESV translates the original text into ‘WORLD’ in John 3:16- it means the “people” of the world. In the verse above it is talking about the ‘world system’. The tech and media and its pervasive control over our focus, our thoughts, our desires and what we consider ‘acceptable behavior’. For the devil is called the “Prince of the air”. “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:1–2)

Leader, just because you get a perceived blessing on this planet, does not mean it came from God and it might look good, but the damage it does- is nothing to do with God and anything BUT helpful in your walk with God. Lust of the Flesh, Lust of the eyes and the PRIDE OF LIFE. These are the foundations for all of our sins. These are the ways we justify walking with the world, when we profess to walk with a HOLY GOD. The first 2 have to do covetnous: Strong desire to have that which belongs to another. It is a very grievous offense in Scripture. The tenth commandment forbids coveting anything that belongs to a neighbor, including his house, his wife, his servants, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to him (Ex 20:17). Jesus listed covetousness along with many of the sins from within, including adultery, theft, and murder, which make a person unclean (Mark 7:22). Paul reminded the Ephesians that greed or covetousness is equated with immorality and impurity, so that these must be put away ( Eph 5:3 ). A covetous or greedy person is an idolater ( Eph 5:5 ) and covetousness is idolatry ( Col 3:5 ). James warns that people kill and covet because they cannot have what they want (James 4:2).

Conduit, the third on our LIST of things that KILL- PRIDE; GOD HATES PRIDE! “The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished. When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.” (Proverbs 8:13, 16:18, 16:5, 11:2) This is the original sin in the heavenly’s! Man’s original sin was in the garden with Adam, but CREATION’S original sin was with Lucifer in Isaiah 14: 12-15. Irwin Lutzer said, “The pride of life today can be called, ‘Pride of Face, Pride of Race and Pride of Place’. We get so wrapped up into our PRIDE in our skin color. We are no longer defined by the content of our character, but we are to have PRIDE IN OUR RACE- except white people. Pride in our FACE- we live in the time of ‘SELFIES’ and self-produced sex videos. We TWEET daily so everyone knows how WE feel, and what WE think, and what we believe! The vanity of our day is unheralded in history. And lastly, we have pride in our PLACE! We are spending money we DON’T have, to buy stuff we DON’T need, to keep up with people we DON’T like! We get so preoccupied with our place in the WORLD. Today, put God first. Let it be about HIM. Today, ask GENERAL JESUS, what He would have you do to be about HIS business, HIS WILL, HIS WAY and HIS WORD! Get off your throne and put JESUS in His rightful PLACE- ON your throne!
