Leader, Jesus was\is perfect- He was without sin! The Bible is very clear on that issue, He was the perfect lamb, sent to the slaughter: He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. But with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. (1 Peter 2:22, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 john 3:5, 1 Peter 1:19, Hebrews 4:15. Yet, even Jesus got angry, angry enough that He had a temple tantrum! In John 2 we read: The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.” His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.” (v 13-17)
Conduit, John Piper when preaching about this subject said: 1) There is a time to get angry; 2) the time to stay angry is short. Or: there are good grounds for getting angry, but no grounds for holding grudges. “Do not let the sun go down on your anger,” means, “Let the day of your anger be the day of your reconciliation” (Estius). And if reconciliation is impossible, even so, do not stroke your wound, or cherish revenge, or hold a grudge. For Satan seeks a gap called grudge, and if he finds it, he will enter and ruin life with all manner of bitterness. Not all anger is wrong for man. But some anger is clearly wrong. Two Characteristics of Good Anger: it is based on God, and it is mingled with grief. We are called to hurt for what hurts God, but we are NOT called to be GOD! God is judge, jury and prosecutor. God says, “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” (Romans 12:19) Not only that, but we are then told the ultimate problem with holding onto anger, and the wrong anger, it creates STRIFE and with Strife ALL other sins are present. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. (James 3:16) If you are following Jesus then we must CEASE AND DESIST with condoning our own anger, while condemning others. The TIME IS NOW, to be like JESUS! “Forgive them Father, for they know NOT what they do”, and DO NOT let anger take hold and pervert your soul. Amen!
