In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. – Genesis 1:1-2 ESV

The Bible is a NEED TO KNOW book. God tells us what He feels we need to know, to be successful. AND it is a book, WE NEED TO KNOW! IN THE BEGINNING! This is the starting point, that God believes is important for us to know. We must realize that this “beginning’ is our beginning. This is NOT the beginning of God, but the beginning of Time. I heard a Bible commentary that posed the question, “When did time begin?” and his answer was, “When there was more than ONE WILL.” In other words, when Satan decided on his own will. Read Ezekiel 28:11-19 and Isaiah 14:12-20. It is interesting that God is assumed, there is no “selling’ on the existence of God- it is just accepted: In the Beginning God. How about your life, are you living as if this were basic understanding and knowledge: In your LIFE, GOD….
Leader, our first introduction to God is as CREATOR, and then 25 verses later we are told that we are made in the ‘GOD-class’. Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” (Genesis 1:26) So in the beginning, the beginning that God feels we NEED to ‘know about’: GOD WAS, and HE IS CREATOR- AND, we are to be LIKE HIM, in HIS CLASS, as a CREATOR. This opening of the BIBLE leads us to ask 2 questions: What are you creating from and what are you creating? For you were MADE TO CREATE.
Conduit, there are 2 ancient, Hebrew words that are both translated to CREATE or MAKE. This is the original language and it could have a significant distinction between the two: ‘bara’ (בָּרָא, to create) and ‘asah’ (עָשָׂה, to make or do). ‘Bara’ refers to supernatural creation: ex nihilo (Latin for “out of nothing”). However, ‘asah’ means to make out of pre-existing material. God created out of nothing; however, WE CREATE out of what GOD has prepared, what God has created, what GOD HAS ORDAINED. In Genesis 1:1 we get ‘Bara, in Genesis 5:1 we have ‘asah’, but in 5:2 we have ‘bara’. Genesis 1:1b: When God created human beings, he made them to be like himself. Genesis 1:2-He created them male and female, and he blessed them and called them “human.” God created Man out of the dust of the earth, He took from Adams side and created woman: but He created mankind out of nothing! Why does this matter? We create out of circumstances that God has CREATED: For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10). This is why we must NOT share in any of God’s glory- NO SHARED GLORY. He is the creator God, He is ABBA FATHER, HE IS THE ONE doing all the work and HE is to get ALL THE GLORY. Today CREATE out of the abundance of our LORD. Today, remind yourself that God is on the THRONE and that ABBA has prepared good works in advance for you to walk through and CREATE (asah)! Then give ALL THE GLORY to the one who deserves all the GLORY, GOD the Father, His only begotten Son, Jesus and the HOLY SPIRIT- GOD WITH US, who is working to do the will of the FATHER through HIS VESSELS, called SONS and DAUGHTERS- HIS CHURCH!
