Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said, you are gods’? If he called them gods to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be broken— do you say of him whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? – John 10:34-36 ESV
If we don’t know scripture, then we can be deceived. There are many out there, who do not follow our Lord and Savior BUT, use the Bible in a misleading way. Many religions would be impossible to follow- if people knew their scriptures. There is no NEW BOOK, that came after the Bible in North America- or anywhere else- that a man was supposed to right down and start a new religion! Satan is a created being and could NOT possibly be a brother of our Lord and God, Jesus! Man can NEVER become a God! These are some things that false religions preach. Stay away from anybody or any church that professes to teach something contrary to the WORD of GOD. But how will you know the LIE, unless you know the TRUTH. Jesus Himself said, ““The truth will set you free” (John 8:32) We will be co-heirs and rule in the Kingdom Age with Jesus, but HE WILL BE OUR GOD! Read Psalm 8.
Leader, there is a saying in academic circles that want to promote academic freedom and the power of learning- the truth will set you free- it is from the WORD! Many universities have this statement emblazoned on a sign near the entrance of a building. However, by knowing the Bible- you understand, Jesus’ statement has nothing to do with classroom learning. He speaks of a higher form of knowledge than is capable of being learned in a classroom. Jesus had just finished a speech at the temple where He delineated differences between Himself and His listeners (us). “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins” (John 8:23–24). In verse 31, Jesus begins to speak just to those who had believed. “Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples’” (John 8:31). True discipleship is more than intellectual assent; those who are “really” followers of Christ will “hold to” His Word. That means they will not only accept His teachings as truth, but they will also obey His teachings. Action is proof of faith- see James 2:17.
Conduit, in Psalm 82:6 it is written: I have said, “You are gods; you are all sons of the Most High.” Notice the little ‘g’ in god, there is no PROPER NAME, ‘G’. In 2 Corinthians 4:4, Paul calls Satan, the god of this world, “In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” Notice again, the ‘g’ in both uses of the word, “god”. God uses this phrase to show dominion, or authority over a thing, or a people- a ruler. He is pointing back to the time indicated by “I said,” when each one was set apart to be a representative of God, and in that he had His authority to bear also His name. 1 Timothy 2:5; For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. Isaiah 44:6; Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god. Isaiah 43:11; I am the Lord, and besides me there is no savior. 1 Corinthians 8:6; Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. Deuteronomy 6:4; “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one”. KNOW YOUR WORD, know your role- know THE ONE, true GOD, our LORD- Jesus! Because NO ONE gets to the FATHER, except by HIM! Amen.
