“Therefore, the Kingdom of Heaven can be compared to a king who decided to bring his accounts up to date with servants who had borrowed money from him.  In the process, one of his debtors was brought in who owed him millions of dollars. He couldn’t pay, so his master ordered that he be sold—along with his wife, his children, and everything he owned—to pay the debt. “But the man fell down before his master and begged him, ‘Please, be patient with me, and I will pay it all.’  Then his master was filled with pity for him, and he released him and forgave his debt. – Matthew 18:23-27 NLT

We bring nothing to the table for our LORD.  This is a great parable because it is so congruent with our relationship with God.  We are at God’s MERCY, at His will.  He is the King, His is the throne, HE IS the ONE WHO judges the living and the dead.  IT IS ALL ABOUT HIM!  HIS WILL, HIS DESIRE, HIS WORD, HIS GLORY, now and forever.  And just like the king in the story our GOD has GREAT COMPASSION for those that He oversees.  2 Peter 3:9 tells us, He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Leader, Even Jesus told us that God will allow NONE that HAS been pre-ordained to accept Christ to be lost- NO NOT ONE! And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day. (John 6:39) In 1 Timothy 2:3-4 it says, “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth” This verse does NOT prove that God will save all people? No, it simply states that God “will have all men to be saved.” The word “will” in Greek is “thelo”. It means “will” (1 Cor. 7:36), or “desire” (Mark 9:35; Phil. 4:17). God desires that all people be saved. BUT NOT ALL people will be saved. Only those who respond to GOD’s CALL and have a change of HEART, a change of SPIRIT!  You must be BORN AGAIN, a new SPIRIT a NEW HEART.

Conduit, we are NOT saved by works, BUT WE ARE SAVED FOR WORKS.  At salvation, the Holy Spirit moves into the repentant heart (Acts 2:38). Self is no longer the uncontested lord of our lives. Jesus is now the boss. That’s what it means to say that Jesus is “Lord” (Romans 10:9; Colossians 2:6). It is a change of DIRECTION, a change of DESTINY and a change of HEART-Everything is changed. We begin to view life from God’s perspective, not our own—as John Newton wrote, “I once was lost but now am found, was blind, but now I see.” We see through God’s eyes, and we treat others like God treated us!  The servant in the story DID NOT please God, for He was a hypocrite, He wanted forgiveness, BUT was unwilling to give it! But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denari, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’ So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’ He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt. When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place. Then his master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt. So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.” Give to others what God has given you!  You were saved for good works- for GOD WORKS!
