But that is not the way you learned Christ!— assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. -Ephesians 4:20-24 ESV
Each day when we get up we CHOOSE; we choose when to get out of bed, what to do when we get out of bed and we eventually choose, WHAT WE ARE TO WEAR. We choose to PUT ON something so that our nakedness is covered! If you know God, walk with God and WORSHIP THE ONE TRUE GOD then the way YOU SHOW UP, matters because it reflects on our GOD! Matthew 5:16 reflects this: In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. As does Colossians 3:23; Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
Leader, we want to LIVE OUR LIVES in a way that brings glory to our God! To do that we must draw that big UP UNTIL NOW, in our lives. We have an OLD FLESH that is warring with our NEW SPIRIT. Galatians 5:17 makes that clear; The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. The greatest Christian who ever lived-apart from Christ, Paul, knew well of this battle: So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. (Romans 7: 17-20)
Conduit, EACH day when we awake from our evening slumber we must CHOOSE this day what we will wear- WHO WE WILL SERVE! Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy. Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires. (Romans 13:13-14) this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. (Romans 6:6) We must CHOOSE to pick up our cross daily, we must choose to die to ourselves daily and we must choose to PUT ON CHRIST daily, like we put on socks and shoes! There is an old nature and a new nature (or old man and new man). One is to be put off; the other is to be put on. One is corrupted; the other is created. The corruption of the old accords with desires of deceit. The creation of the new accords with God in the righteousness of truth. We were created- we do not produce our new nature as Christians. We were dead in trespasses and sins- see Ephesians 2:1 and were made alive by God’s sovereign grace (2:5). We were created anew- born anew- and it was by NO CHOICE of our own! Praise be to God the Author and Perfecter of our Faith! DON CHRIST and BE HIM to as many people as HE WILLS- NO SHARED GLORY! Deo Volente!
