But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” He said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.” – Exodus 3:11-12 ESV
Leaders learn to ask the RIGHT question. The right questions will LEAD you the right answers. Moses, like so many of us, got wrapped up in ourselves! We get questioning our timing, our vision, our understanding our resources, our ability! Paul recounts the story about asking God to “fix him’, in 2 Cor 12:8-9 his recollection goes like this: Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Rule #1 about being used by God; IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU!
Leader, in the book of Judges where hear about a lowly man named Gideon. He was living in fear and he was living life low, but God saw him as a MIGHTY WARRIOR, through which GOD would do great things. And he said to him, “Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” And the LORD said to him, “But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.” (Judges 6: 15-16) God sees us as HE made us, NOT as we see ourselves! If it is GOD who is calling the shots in OUR LIVES, then it is HIS POWER and HIS MIGHT that moves us to victory- not our own!
Conduit, even the great prophet Jeremiah, doubted his personal ability- forgetting it was God who was IN CHARGE: “O Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!” The LORD replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the LORD, have spoken!” (Jer 1:6-8) We must remember WHO IS DOING in our lives! Philippians 2:13 tells us clearly; for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Let GO and LET GOD and remember, NO SHARED GLORY! We are called to DIE to ourselves DAILY and DAILY, PICK UP OUR CROSS and let GOD get all the glory and responsibility- to GET ‘ER DONE! Amen!
