And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the hell of fire. – Matthew 18:8-9 ESV
Are you really walking with JESUS, or are you just involved with EASY BELIEVISM? ‘Easy believism’ is the BELIEF that one needs only to believe in Jesus to be saved- . From this they conclude that those who hold to sola fide (“faith alone”) teach that no corresponding need exists for a committed life of Christian discipleship as LIVING proof of salvation; however, that is not what sola fide means. See James 2:14-18! True faith in Christ will always lead to a changed life. The BELIEF in ‘easy believism’, can be demonstrated by those who believe they’re saved because they prayed a prayer—with no real conviction of sin and no real faith in Christ. Praying a prayer is easy—thus the term easy believism—but there is more to salvation than mouthing words. You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. (James 2:19)
Leader, if you are looking for EASY, stay away from the CROSS! Instead go to Staples, and you can purchase an ‘easy’ button. Easy, doesn’t lead to the cross, it doesn’t lead to Jesus and it doesn’t lead to the KINGDOM OF GOD! See Luke 13:22-30. Jesus, in His most powerful sermon, the Sermon on the Mount, in Matthew 5 states how hard it is to enter the Kingdom of God; “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell. Matthew 5:27-30 Jesus is NOT promoting self-mutilation, He is saying- it is the heart that matters, it is authentic concern and care for people, it is an INSIDE-OUT change of Spirit!
Conduit, Jesus MUST BE FIRST in our lives! “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26-27 Jesus is NOT changing His mind about the commandment to honor mother and Father, that God gave in Exodus 20:12- He was saying that He is TO BE the SUPREME DESIRE of our hearts, and our lives! To the church at Ephesus, He lamented, “But I have this against you, that you have left your first love”. (Revelation 2:4) Do you take your relationship with God serious? Do you make effort daily to connect, and get to know God better, by knowing His Son, His Word and our Savior? Would your spouse be pleased if the time you spent with God, was the time you spent with them? If that answer is NO- you need to examine your heart and move JESUS into THE PROMINENT role! If the answer is YES, then you probably need to move your spouse up to Number 2, right after Jesus! Make JESUS the priority and thy sustenance- REMOVE ALL things that come between you and your FIRST LOVE!
