And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. – John 1:14 ESV

Warrior;

The GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST, is the good news that GOD LOVES the world enough that HE DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT!  (John 3:16) He gave His only Son to die as THE ATONEMENT for our sin- to bridge the gap between a HOLY GOD and a FALLEN MAN. In the NEW COVENANT of the Bible, the first 4 books are called the GOSPELS.  Just like shooting a movie with different camera angles allows us to SEE different things- the 4 Gospels are accounts of people who walked with Jesus, who heard, saw and experienced FIRST HAND His presence.

Leader, These 4 books are the key to understanding Jesus and HIS MINISTRY. The first 3 Gospels; Matthew, Mark, and Luke are referred to as the ‘Synoptic Gospels”.  Synoptic means ‘same view’.  The three seem to have a lot of the same stories and parables, they have the SAME VIEW on a lot of matters. Mark’s Gospel was written first, and much of his content appears in Matthew and Luke. Mark’s Gospel is representative of the OX, he focused on Jesus’ SERVICE. Matthew tells more of the story and has a special interest in explaining the story of Jesus to first-century Jews. Luke, on the other hand, is talking to a Gentile audience, and he says right at the start that he wants to offer “an orderly account” in order to bolster certainty in the faith. John’s Gospel includes many actions not reported in the other Gospels. It also includes more of Jesus’ teaching, much of it in long discourses.

Conduit, Skip Heitzig did a great series and Workbook called, “The Bible from 30,000 feet”. He says this about the book of John: 90% of its material is unique- not found in the other 3 Gospels.  The name Jesus and the title, ‘Christ’ appear in JOHN, 170 times. The word, BELIEVE, is repeated 100 times.  John clearly wants us to BELIEVE that JESUS is the CHRIST; the Messiah the Kinsman Redeemer! The book of John is unique, it has NO parables and has the 7 GREAT ‘I AM’ statements of Christ- JOHN is the STRONGEST evidence of the DEITY of JESUS! John never mentions his name in the book. However, John does refer to himself as “the Disciple whom Jesus loved”. If you want to know the LOVE and DEITY of JESUS, then read the book written by the Disciple who LOVES JESUS and whom ‘Jesus loved’. For John so love the world, he wanted the WORLD to BELIEVE- JESUS IS THE CHRIST! How about you?
