So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, “Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?” As she was going to get it, he called, “And bring me, please, a piece of bread.” –1 King 17: 10-11 NIV
Warrior;
This widow was just gatherings sticks and she was used by the GOD OF THE BIBLE! Because she was walking in the will of God- she GOT TO BE USED to sustain one of the two men to never experience the FIRST DEATH. When we are walking in the WILL and SERVICE of God then NO JOB is too small! God is the author and perfector of our Faith! The apostle Paul pieces this together for us. In Eph 2:10; For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. God is working out His plans! Paul uses 2 different Metaphors to tell us again, it is God doing the work. In Cor 12:12 Paul says; For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. In other words Christ is the head directing the body. The parts do as the head tells them.
Leader, 1 Cor 3:6-8 is Paul’s second idiom; I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work.
Conduit, God is looking for followers who are willing to AVAIL and COMMIT. We serve a God who doesn’t need anybody, BUT will use anybody. He is looking for those WILLING to serve HIM instead of their own personal interests. Just like the WIDOW OF ZAREPHATH, who got to minister to one of the greatest prophets of the Bible- God can use your daily, mundane tasks for HIS GLORY and you will be rewarded! Be honored to be serving the God of the universe and remember; Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men! NO SHARED GLORY!
