And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins—and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins.

No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. Putting NEW things INTO old things, creates a problem! Jesus was inferring: “You can’t put new ideas into old mind-sets. You can’t get new results with old behaviors.” When wine is new, it is in a state of fermentation. It bubbles and expands as the fermentation gases are released. A fresh, pliable wineskin can absorb such expansion and slowly age-with the wine until the fermentation process is complete. To put fresh wine into an old wineskin- is asking for trouble. The old wineskin has assumed a definite shape and is no longer pliable. It is fixed and somewhat brittle. The activity of new wine will stress it beyond its ability to yield. And so both the wine and the skin are lost. We can’t put new ideas into old mind-sets. We can’t get new results with old thoughts and behaviors.
Leader, In John 3 Jesus told Nicodemus,” Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” To paraphrase His response in the Message; Jesus said, “You’re not listening. Let me say it again. Unless a person submits to this original creation—the ‘wind-hovering-over-the-water’ creation, the invisible moving the visible, a baptism into a new life—it’s not possible to enter God’s kingdom. When you look at a baby, it’s just that: a body you can look at and touch. But the person who takes shape within is formed by something you can’t see and touch—the Spirit—and becomes a living spirit.
Conduit, 2 Cor 5:17 tells us; if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. BE NEW in CHRIST. What you used to THINK, where you used to GO, how you used to SPEAK are all NEW TOO! Today, ACT AS IF, you are DIFFERENT then the world! ACT AS IF, you are an AMBASSADOR IN CHAINS, a HUMBLE SLAVE of the RISEN KING!
