Indeed men swear [an oath] by one greater than themselves, and with them [in all disputes] the oath serves as confirmation [of what has been said] and is an end of the dispute. In the Synoptic Gospels Jesus was approached by a rich, young ruler. He had a simple question for the MESSIAH, ““Good Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Matthew’s Gospel put the Lord’s response as such; ‘And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”’ (Matthew 19:23-26) This is the opposite answer about LYING. It is IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO LIE or break an OATH! Man does it daily, but it is impossible to lie, because JESUS IS THE TRUTH! It is written: “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth”. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 17:17, 14:6) I AM, it is about IDENTITY! Jesus said I AM THE TRUTH, then He said, ““if you continue in My word, then you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). The Proverbs and the Psalms continue this TRUTH about the Truth: “Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment” “The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.” (Proverbs 12:19,22) “His “ways are lovingkindness and truth. Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name” (Psalm 25:10, 86:11)

Leader, The Bible defines truth as God’s self-expression and the way things are. The Bible also says that: God is the ultimate standard and judge of truth, God is the “God of truth” and cannot lie, The written Word of God is truth, Scripture is the touchstone for all truth claims, Truth is a moral concept rooted in God’s character, Truth refers to moral integrity, how one thinks and behaves, and God’s laws and instructions, Lying is the opposite of telling the truth. Not only is the Bible clear about the TRUTH, but the BIBLE was written to combat the LIES of the world. The Bible is written as a POLEMIC: an aggressive attack on or refutation of the opinions or principles of another. John D. Currid, in his book, “Against the Gods: The Polemical Theology of the Old Testament has this to say about the TRUTH nature of the Bible: “Polemical theology is the use by biblical writers of the thought forms and stories that were common in ancient Near Eastern culture, while filling them with radical new meanings. The biblical authors take well-known expressions and motifs from the ancient Near Eastern milieu and apply them to the person and work of Yahweh, and not to the other gods of the ancient world. . .. Polemical theology is monotheistic to the very core. The primary purpose of polemical theology is to demonstrate emphatically and graphically the distinction between the worldview of the Hebrews and the beliefs and practices of the rest of the ancient Near East.” In the Beginning was the Word and the WORD was with God and the Word was God and the WORD WAS, IS, and WILL ALWAYS BE, the TRUTH!

Conduit, the battlefield is in the MIND, it is the devil’s playground. Jesus’ first thing to do was to convince people of the TRUTH and DESTROY THE LIES from the FATHER OF LIES. The only way to destroy the lies of the devil is with the TRUTH OF THE WORD, just like Jesus in Luke 4:1-12. His response was always, IT IS WRITTEN. Here are 5 lies the FATHER OF LIES uses to discourage believers: Lie 1: God can’t understand or relate to our human nature. IT IS WRITTEN; “we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are — yet did not sin.” (Hebrews 4:15) Our God has empathy; He knows our frame and He knows our pain! 2: God wants to control you with harsh, restrictive rules. God is a GOOD FATHER. He wants to teach us things so that we can have a safer, better, more productive life- like ALL GOOD PARENTS! Satan wants to keep us trapped in lifestyles that will leave us feeling isolated and empty. IT IS WRITTEN; “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” (John 10:10) 3: Your way is better than God’s way. We pick and choose what we want to believe and do, and we get comfortable in the darkness. But God created all of us to live in the light that only Jesus can provide. IT IS WRITTEN; “You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness”. (1 Thessalonians 5:5) 4: God is so disappointed by your failures that He could never forgive you. God is immutable (He cannot change) and God is Omniscient. (All-knowing, HE CANNOT LEARN) We serve a cosmic KNOW-IT-ALL. He cannot be disappointed in you. IT IS WRITTEN; “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) 5. You can never change. IT IS WRITTEN: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). When I listen to the voice in my head, I ask myself, “Is that Me, the Devil, or My Lord?” We must have discernment, because only one of the three voices has any value, but inside my head they all sound like me- because I control the Speaker system. Sheep know the SHEPHERD’S voice. That is why TRUE CONVERSION is called being, BORN AGAIN! The change is INSIDE-OUT, not OUTSIDE-IN. The TIME IS NOW to destroy the lies of the devil and to believe the ONE TRUE GOD by knowing the TRUTH: IT IS WRITTEN! Happy New Year, and let us LIVE IN\FOR THE TRUTH this year!
