“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. – Matthew 6:24 NKJV

The scriptures are to teach us, discipline us and to remind us. Deuteronomy 6 possesses the SHEMA, which is the prayer designed for Israel to remember what God has done for them, and who He is. It continues with this admonition: And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. (Dt 6:5-9) We are called to REMEMBER, in other words, put it back together. Every time we put the arms and legs on Mr. Potato Head we re-membered him. This is what God uses the Bible to do, put things back together for us. The Greek word used for mammon in the Bible is “mamōnas” and means “treasure” or “riches”. Some versions of the Bible say money, but this is more than money it is all we treasure, our fame, our network, our following, our family, our accumulated name and reputation, and all that encompasses our lived lives.

Leader, Jesus said you can’t serve God and also serve your worldly desires- that is what we treasure; For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. (1 John 2:16) You can serve as many masters as you want on this planet, you can work 2 and 3 jobs, but you can’t work for competing companies. You couldn’t work for Pepsi and Coke, they compete, and they are fighting for the same market share. It is no different for the things of the world and the things of God. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. (James 4:4) God even uses the word that is used when a spouse cheats on another spouse; Adulterer. Not only are they competing with each other, but they are JEALOUS of each other- so it will never work. Then God gave the people all these instructions: “I am the LORD your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery. “You must not have any other god but me. “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. (Exodus 20:1-5a)

Conduit, in the Gospel of Luke:16:13, Jesus says almost the very same thing where He said “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be DEVOTED to the one and despise the other. Here God uses the word “devoted” which is close to the same things as being a slave. If someone devotes their life to something, that means that they pour everything that they have and everything that they are into whatever it is that they are devoted to. To be devoted is to have a powerfully strong affection or attachment to something or someone. Devotion can be seen as a deep, abiding love. Paul warned Timothy about a love of money, writing that “the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs” (1 Tim 6:10). The root of all kinds of evil is not money…it is the love and devotion to money, to the point of becoming its slave. Time is short, THE TIME IS NOW to make a decision His Kingdom, or your kingdom? The Prophet Elijah posed the same decision to the people of Israel; And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” (1 Kings 18:21) God says your treasure is where your heart is, where you spend the majority of your time and your focus. Let us consider, is it time to REFOCUS our TIME on the things of God instead of the things of man? Choose well CHILD OF GOD!

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. -James 3:14-16 KJV

When STRIFE Is present in a marriage, in a heart, in a man or woman- there is EVERY EVIL WORK! Wow, this is big- this is why America and the world are creating hell on earth. Strife can tear relationships apart. Strife is mentioned all throughout the Bible! I read there are 43 scriptures — exclusive of synonyms for strife; selfish ambition, self-interest, rivalry, discord and dissention- in the word of God! STRIFE is defined as; conflict, antagonism, quarrel, struggle, clash, competition, disagreement, opposition, fight. It destroys relationships, it devastates hearts and minds.

Leader, at its root; PRIDE is the breeding ground of STRIFE and in the presence of Humility STRIFE starves to DEATH! Humility is the foundation of all virtue, but pride is the essence of all sin. The world system operates on the basis of pride for all that is in the world is lust and pride (1 Jn 2:16). Pride and lust are root sins from which all other sins spring and this is of the devil and the flesh.

Conduit, The time is now to quit straightening deck chairs on our TITANIC. It is time to rid our hearts, minds, marriages and all relationships from the STRIFE in our hearts and minds! Therefore- Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. (Eph 4:2) No matter what your spouse or any other human does to you- Humble yourselves before the Lord, and HE will lift you up!

Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me. I am weary with my crying out; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God. – Psalm 69:1-3 ESV

The book of Psalms is a collection of 150 lyric poems. A lyric poem is defined as “that which directly expresses the individual emotions of the poet.” Religious lyric poetry reflects the inner feelings of the person whose soul is stirred by thoughts of God. The Psalms are thus inspired responses of various individuals to God’s revelation of himself in the Old Testament era. The Book of Psalms is the longest book in the Bible, with 150 individual psalms. It is also one of the most diverse, since the psalms deal with such subjects as God and His creation, war, worship, wisdom, sin and evil, judgment, justice, and the coming of the Messiah.

Leader, the Psalms were the songbook of the people of God when they gathered for worship. The tell of the RAW struggle of we broken human beings as we go through this life as CHILDREN of GOD in a world that is controlled by the PRINCE OF THE AIR and those that HAVE NOT, WILL NOT, CHOOSE NOT to submit to the KINGDOM of GOD which is the RULE and REIGN of God, on earth as it is in heaven! Psalm 1 contrasts the blessing that await those who WALK WITH GOD with the disaster of those who CHOOSE another path. Psalm 23 is the most memorable and encouraging of the Psalms. Psalm 74: A desperate plea to God to rescue us from our troubles. Psalm 119 is the longest Psalm and the longest chapter in the Bible, this psalm beautifully works its way through the Hebrew alphabet, pondering mans relationship with God. Psalm 117 is the shortest of all psalms. It is the 595th of the 1,189 chapters of the King James Version of the Bible, making it the middle chapter. It is also the shortest chapter in this version of the Bible. “O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.”

Conduit, if you want a deeper relationship with God and if you want to FEEL the HIGHS and LOWS of our Faith walk, PSALMS will always provide that emotional connection. Psalm 69 is raw, it is NOT pretty, it allows for the pity party that many of us have as we struggle with the brokenness of this world and the attacks of the enemy. It is honest in our fear and doubt that can creep in to those who have a HEART AFTER GOD and who are zealous in the following of HIS WORD, HIS WAY and HIS SON! The psalms show us, we can bring all our feelings to God—no matter how negative or complaining they may be—and we can rest assured that He will hear and understand. The psalmist teaches us that the most profound prayer of all is a cry for help as we find ourselves overwhelmed by the problems of life. God is the same Lord in all the psalms. But we respond to Him in different ways, according to the specific circumstances of our lives. What a marvelous God we worship, the psalmist declares, ONE who is high and lifted up beyond our human experiences but also ONE who is close enough to touch and who walks beside us along life’s way. How GREAT IS OUR GOD!

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:17-19 ESV

God is immutable, in other words, HE DOES NOT CHANGE: “For I the Lord do not change, therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.; God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?; Every good and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change; The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of God will stand forever. (Malachi 3:6, Numbers 23:19, James 1:17, Isaiah 40:8) And then we get confirmation again in the New Agreement: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)

Leader, we must know the word of God and we must beware of how the world wants to change our Word and change our God! WE also must know what God can and cannot do. God cannot lie, He cannot change His mind, He cannot break a promise, HE CAN NOT CHANGE; He is immutable! God says it and God does it and we are called to be LIKE GOD! Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak. (2 Corinthians 4:13) What He speaks, He fulfills, and HE never changes his mind, He is omniscient- All knowing. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. (Romans 11:29) He cannot be surprised, He cannot be overcome; He is omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent!

Conduit, the sermon on the mount is God’s instruction manual for our way to LIVE on this planet, so that God will be pleased when He comes to get us and His church in the Rapture. He clearly tells us that those who PRACTICE certain things will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. It is one thing to struggle, another thing to stumble- God has made provision for our forgiveness. However, when we practice something it is the conscious will to do that thing, and we do it regularly, if not daily. ‘Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who submit to or perform homosexual acts, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11) Jesus is returning soon and we want to be doing what He has called us to do, and NOT DOING, what HE has told us NOT TO DO! How do you know what those two categories are? Read your Word of God, listen to the Word of God, submit to the Word of God- Be doers of the WORD and NOT JUST HEARERS of the word- lest you deceive yourself. (James 1:22) Make sure you are practicing the RIGHT THINGS! For it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16)

And when the priests came out of the Holy Place, a cloud filled the house of the LORD, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD. – 1 Kings 8:10-11 ESV

This should be our MOST DESIRED OUTCOME. To be so filled with the HOLY SPIRIT, to be so STUFFED with HIS WORD, that there is no room for anything else. We must have discernment, the Bible tells us; My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27) When we tune into the voices in our head, we must ask ourselves is this ME (my flesh), is this the devil (the world), or is this MY GOD (my guide, THE WAY), speaking to me? In our heads it all sounds like us, because it is in our head. It is written; The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. (Luke 6:45) When we are filled with things of the world, we are getting input and narratives from those things that we allow to be IN US. And if this is the case- it might look good on the outside, but the insides are corrupt.

Leader, this is why Jesus was always concerned with the heart. Many times, Jesus would say, “you have heard it is said, but I say….” In other words, He is more concerned with what is in their heart. When a sponge is squeezed, the only thing that can come out of it, is what was put IN IT. He called the religious people of His time; whitewashed tombs, hypocrites, brood of vipers, children of the devil. See Matthew 23:27-28, Matthew 12:34 and 23:33, John 8:44. God is always concerned with what is INSIDE THE HOUSE, versus what the outside of the HOUSE looks like. We are living in tabernacles, tents- temporary dwelling places and our home, if we are children of God- is our Heart, Body and Soul- it is the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

Conduit, in Luke 15:11-32 we read the story of the LOST SON, or the PRODIGAL SON. Might I suggest that we are dealing with 2 lost sons, with 2 prodigal sons. We all know about the one who left and came back to Daddy and GOD ran out to meet him and welcome him home. But many miss the ‘lostness’ of the second son. “The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’ “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.(Luke 15:28-31) The second son was doing all the right things on the OUTSIDE, but inside was resentment, bitterness and his performance based belief system. It is time to clean out the CRAP from our home, and let only God and HIS WORD, HIS WILL and HIS WAY- occupy our hearts, minds and souls! Can I get a witness! Amen.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. – James 5:16 ESV

We need to be IN THE WORD, since we are IN THE WORLD, but NOT of the world. The Bible is God’s compass, His map, His FARMERS ALMANAC for His children sojourning on this planet. Being in the Word is not sufficient, unless we understand and see to apply or LIVE HIS WORD. There are 2 words that we need to understand in HIS WORD that we are studying today; Confess and Righteous. Confess means to agree with God and Righteous has nothing to do with our behavior, but our standing before God- which will affect our behavior. We are NOT saved by good works, HOWEVER, we are SAVED UNTO GOOD WORKS. “… knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ … for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.” (Galatians 2:16)

Leader, in other words, we CAN’T be GOOD ENOUGH for God, only Jesus was! And for those who BELIEVE in and TRUST in the work of Jesus on the cross they are counted as RIGHTEOUS. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? (Romans 10:13-14a) We must first realize we are sinners who need a Savior and then call on the name of Jesus and let Him, through the Holy Spirit change us from our wicked, willful way to the way of the LORD. Hebrews 12 tells us; let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles us. Which brings us to our standing before God. We hear so often in the political world that people who vote against God and His WORD, who want to ban His Word and His name from the public square are praying for this President or praying for our troops. Exodus 20:7; Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. It is a form of blasphemy, to use God’s name in vain, to use God’s name and His word as a cudgel.

Conduit the Bible is clear; We know that God does not listen to UN-repentant sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, God listens to Him. If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination. The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. (John 9:31, Proverbs 28:9 and 15:29, James 4:3) God is NOT a respecter of persons, but He only listens to HIS CHILDREN, HIS PEOPLE; those who confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in their heart that He is risen and UNDERSTAND that the only way to GOD THE FATHER is through HIS SON, JESUS. We must believe the whole BIBLE, not just the convenient parts if we are to be HEARD BY GOD and our PRAYERS have any value! BEWARE of all these politicians that pray for you as they seek to destroy those who believe in the God of the Bible who pray in the name of HIS SON, JESUS. Worthless prayers have no effect on our troops, our country or our salvation! Read GOD’S word, seek understanding of God’s WORD and understand ONLY the prayers of a RIGHTEOUS person have any value. Don’t be fooled and DON’T USE HIS NAME IN VAIN!

Revive me according to Your lovingkindness, So that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth. – Psalm 119:88 NKJV

Psalm 117 is the shortest chapter in the Bible, it is also the middle chapter of the Bible. Psalm 119 is the longest CHAPTER in the Bible- it is close to being the CENTER OF THE BIBLE.  It is like an intermission in a long play.  Right in the middle of THE BOOK, Psalm 19 is calling us to REVIVAL! King David wrote many of the Psalms. The author of Psalm 119 is unknown, but most scholars agree that it was written by David, Ezra, or Daniel. The Bible tells us that David was a man after God’s own heart. Acts 13:22 says, “After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do. ‘” In some translations The Word QUICKEN is used instead of REVIVE.  The word “quicken” means “to make alive, to REVIVE, to restore, to nourish, to give life, to repair, to make whole. REVIVE is used eleven times in Psalm 119- It can be called the REVIVAL CHAPTER!

Leader, REVIVAL is Spiritual renewal. The word derives from the Latin revivere, “to live again,” and was typically used to describe an old play that was brought back to a new generation of theater audiences. The concept is closest to the Old Testament idea of renewal or restoration, found especially in the work of leaders such as Hezekiah and Josiah. The story of King Josiah is probably the best illustration of revival in the Old Testament (2 Chronicles 34). Judah had fallen away from God, almost exclusively serving the idols of surrounding peoples. When the Pentateuch is suddenly rediscovered, Josiah immediately calls the people back to this covenant, and institutes sweeping reforms throughout every institution in Israel. Judah had a past relationship with God it could return to, with the spiritual and political mechanisms in place to quickly restore this relationship to a central place in Israelite life. They rebuilt what had decayed. Today in America, in our church and in our HEARTS and MINDS- we NEED REVIVAL!

Conduit, the TIME IS NOW, come back to GOD.  Walk away from the WAYS of the world; The Privilege movement, keeping our pound of flesh and our record of wrong- delegating God to a place of burden and hassle.  REVIVAL always starts in our HEARTS, and it is up to you! Cardinal Cushing put it this way: “If all the sleeping folk will wake up—and all the lukewarm folk will fire up—and all the dishonest folk will confess up—and all the disgruntled folk will sweeten up—and the discouraged folk will look up—and all the estranged folk will make up—and all the gossipers will shut up—and all the dry bones will shake up—and all the true soldiers will stand up—and all the church members will pray up—then you will have a revival.” Revival is nothing else than a new beginning of obedience to God, driven by a PASSION for GOD. Revival is a RENEWAL of HOPE and a DEDICATION to focus on the only thing that really matters- GOD and HIS coming Kingdom! REVIVE US, O LORD!
