Spiritual Eyes to See
Almighty God give me your eyes so I can see
Give me your love and hurt, for humanity.
Help me to focus my eyes and see what you see
As I look for your perception, your hidden mystery
O Lord, give me eyes that pierce through the veil,
Not flesh-bound sight that falters and fails.
Let me see on the hills, blazing chariots with flames,
Not just the armies that threaten Your name.
Balaam rode on with pride in his stride,
Blind to the angel with sword at his side.
But the donkey knelt down, saw danger ahead
A beast with vision, but a prophet misled.
Elisha stood calm while Gehazi shook,
Fear in his heart from the army’s look.
“Open his eyes,” the prophet did pray
And fire-ringed hills lit the dark of the day.
Flaming arrows may fly all through the night,
But faith is our shield with our heavenly sight.
We walk not by sight, what the senses declare,
But by the Spirit- who is there with us, in prayer.
The hills might be crowded with horses of war,
But those who are with us are many, many more.
The Lord of Hosts HEDGES His own,
With fire and glory from a thunderous throne.
So open my eyes, O Jesus, I plead,
To see what You see, to know what I need.
Not riches or safety, not comfort or ease,
But vision that bows and rises to please.
Let me not stumble in valleys of fear,
Nor curse the path when angels are near.
Let me not strike what You’ve sent to save,
Nor miss the mercy that makes me brave.
For we are not mere flesh, but the Spirit inside
Greater is He who is in me, where glory abides.
Circumcise the heart and strip off the scales…the blindness…the pride,
Please dear Abba, give me Your eyes, and let them be–forever my guide.
