And the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed. And Moses said, “I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.” When the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then he said, “Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” And he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.- Exodus 3:2-6 ESV
Warrior;
We need some Moses’ today! People who are going to say, HERE I AM LORD! We read this Book of HOPE, the GOOD NEWS, the GOSPEL- hoping to know God better, to be closer to God, to be USED BY GOD! We can have all the knowledge about God, we can hear about those that served God in the past, even those that were used by God in the past and we think, WHO AM I? So did others, like MOSES! Just continue to read beyond today’s highlighted text and you will hear Moses doubt. Hear the word of the Lord; But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” He said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.” (ibid 12-13) If you want to be used by God in a big way, then you need to cry out; “HINENI”; Here I am Lord! This is one of the things that Charlie Kirk and other Men of God know, HINENI! This powerful Hebrew word means, LORD USE ME! It is akin to, “What are my marching orders, what would you have me do?”
Leader, the greats of the Bible, all said, “LORD, Here I AM!” Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Samuel the prophet, Isaiah and even GOD HIMSELF said this to those who CRY OUT IN RIGHTEOUSNESS- HERE I AM- Hineni! It is written: After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” (Genesis 22:1-2) The next verse, 3 starts with: So Abraham rose early in the morning….“When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son. But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” (Genesis 22:9-11) There it is again, Abraham ready to do the will of GOD- HINENI! Jacob did the same thing! When the Angel of God calls him in a dream, Jacob replies, “Hineni”, signaling attentiveness to DIVINE INSTRUCTION. Then the angel of God said to me in the dream, ‘Jacob,’ and I said, ‘Here I am!’ And he said, ‘Lift up your eyes and see, all the goats that mate with the flock are striped, spotted, and mottled, for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you. I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar and made a vow to me. Now arise, go out from this land and return to the land of your kindred.’” (Genesis 31:11-13)
Leader, the young Samuel, not yet knowing the LORD, responds, “HINENI” repeatedly as He’s called in the night; see 1 Samuel 3:4-10. The great Prophet Isaiah is famous for his cry of Hineni in the 6th Chapter of Isaiah in the vision of the throne room of God. Under the heading of “Isaiahs commission from the Lord”, Hear the Word of the Lord; And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” And he said, “Go, and say to this people: (Isaiah 6:8-9a) God Himself says, “HINENI- Here I AM” to those who cry out in righteousness; Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness. (Isaiah 58:9) Each of God’s leaders said Hineni before knowing what God would ask, there is a FAITH before CLARITY. How GREAT IS YOUR FAITH? Are you ready to cry out this powerful word and mean it? It is often spoken in moments of deep encounters, divine calls- it demonstrates RELATIONAL INTIMACY. It is also a COVENANTAL RESPONSE, it reflects loyalty and willingness to participate in God’s redemptive plan. Hineni is a Posture of Sacred Availability! Hineni is a POSTURE OF TRUST. It is a declaration of ALL IN: total trust, availability, willingness, and surrender! How about you? Where are you at? Are you READY to be all in and CRY OUT TO THE LORD, “HINENI”? In Jewish tradition, Hineni is also a deeply personal prayer recited by the cantor during the HIGH HOLIDAYS. It is spoken in the first-person singular, a rare moment where the leader says, “Here I am, impoverished in merit, yet I come before You to plead for Your people. Hineni is a vulnerable, intimate offering of self! When you are ready to serve God, He is ready to allow you to play bigger for Him, just cry out HINENI! It means give me ORDERS LORD!
