From the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach is satisfied; he is satisfied by the yield of his lips. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. – Proverbs 18:20-21 ESV
Warrior;
The 3 P’s of a Warrior are; Powerful, Peaceful and Present. Powerful as in MEEK. Present as being focused in the NOW moment, aware of your situation, fully engaged Heart, Body and Soul. Peaceful as in THOUGHT and in WORD. Our Words that we speak out loud come from our words that we speak in our heads. The battle is in the MIND. The Bible says “from the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. Whenever we are talking about communication we must always consider both types; Interpersonal and Intrapersonal. They way we talk with others and the way we talk with ourselves. Interpersonal is between 2 or more people, Intrapersonal is our THOUGHTS- thinking is merely ‘talking to ourselves’. Even though they have different audiences, they affect each other. The frame of ‘self-talk’ has an effect on the outcome of our external communication. Hear the Word of the Lord; Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure, and the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure. But I tell you that men will give an account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned. (Matthew 12:33-37)
Leader, A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. The two frogs ignored the comments and continued their effort to jump up and out of the pit, with all their might. The other frogs watched their effort and continued to tell them to stop, that they were as good as dead. After a while, the 2 frogs were starting to get discouraged, although they continued to jump. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died. Not willing to give up the fight, the other frog continued to jump as hard as it could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. Ignoring them the other frog continued to Jump harder, and harder each time, and eventually he made it out. When the one frog got out, the other frogs said, “Did you not hear us?” The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time. The tongue is not neutral; it holds the capacity to destroy or to give life. Words can wound, mislead, and divide—or they can heal, guide, and unite. As the great theologian Hawk Nelson say, “Words can build you up, words can break you down, put a fire in your heart or put it out.” Those who are aware of the tongue’s power and use it deliberately—whether for good or ill. They will “eat its fruits,” in other words, they will experience the outcomes of their verbal choices.
Conduit, It is written, “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure, you use it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:37-38) The agricultural imagery in the Proverb reminds us that our words are like seeds that bear fruit. Just as a farmer eats from the harvest he has sown, a person experiences the consequences—good or bad—of what they say. This “satisfaction” can be positive, as in the joy of speaking wisdom, encouragement, or truth; or it can be ironic, as in being filled with the bitter results of harmful or deceitful speech. A destructive word to someone who is down can be all it takes to kill their hopes, to kill their will, to kill their drive, to kill their desire, to kill their effort and belief- TO KILL THEM! Hear the Word of the Lord; “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire. (Matthew 5:21-22) The RIGHT WORDS at the RIGHT TIME can change someone’s life. The WRONG WORDS at the RIGHT TIME- if someone allows it- can steal, destroy- kill someone’s hope, drive and determination. Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path. Our words have power! An encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the SPIRIT to continue in difficult times. Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. It is a reminder from our Manufacturer that our words are seeds with consequences!
